Travel from Athens to Amorgos

Participants of the Amorgos Film Festival may have their trip from Athens organized by Aegialis Tours, affiliated with Aegialis Hotel & Spa.
Participants can travel directly to Amorgos on the 4th of November, if their flight arrives by 15:00 or prior, so that they can be at the port of Piraeus by 17:30 when Blue Star Ferry departs – ferries leave at 17.30.
There is one daily connection to Amorgos Island (except on Saturday during winter) from Piraeus port, Athens.
Ferries dock alternately at the two ports of Amorgos Island: Katapola or Aegiali.
The program of Amorgos Film Festival is always structured in such a way, that participants can arrive in Aegiali port, the closest port to the hotel.

The journey from Piraeus port to Amorgos Island lasts 8 hours. Arrival time on Amorgos is at 02:00 am – Departure time from Amorgos is at 06:55 am. Transfer from/to the hotel is provided by the Festival.

All options for your transfer from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos to the port of Piraeus:

  • Private transfer: on request.
  • bus  Bus: Express bus X96 leaves every 20 minutes during the day and every 40 minutes at night from the Airport’s Arrivals Level (between Doors 4 and 5) to “Karaiskaki Square” in Piraeus, right outside the ferry harbor. The trip takes from about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and a half, 5€ cost per person
  • metro Metro: The subway will take you directly to Piraeus port, duration is approximately 1 hour. Cost of fare 10€
  • taxi  Taxi: Upon your arrival, you can catch a taxi and the duration is approximately 30-40 minutes and costs around 50€.

 

From Naxos to Amorgos

There is daily flight connection from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos to Naxos National airport. Current timetable (subject to changes): Departure at 09:00 – Arrival at 09:45 (Olympic Air). Please double-check.
You may take a taxi outside of the Airport of Naxos Island to Chora (also known as Naxos Town), about 3km away.

There is a local ferry called “Skopelitis” departing at 14:00 to Amorgos taking 4 hours it’s available every day except Sunday, and it’s like a small cruise, as it stops at the islands of Iraklia, Sxinousa, Koufonissi and Donousa. Alternatively the Blue Star Ferry departs from Naxos to Amorgos at 23:30 every day except Saturday and takes 3 hours.
